The Athena Sideboard

Combining everyday functionality with unparalleled design through elegant composition and luxuriant materials, the Athena softly brings a sense of refined grace to any space.

Product story · Valkyrie Fiber

The “Blue Lagoon” colorway

We colour-tested skein after skein against reference photos until the yarn blended seamlessly into Iceland’s most famous place. Blue Lagoon deserved a colorway that reflects it perfectly, and if you can’t make it there in person, knitting a garment in this yarn is the next best thing.

Valkyrie Fiber wool comes straight from Iceland, is spun in New York with merino, then returns home to Portland to be dyed and shipped out to you.

The Empathy Economy

No one remembers your elevator pitch. They remember how you made them feel.

We spend so much time perfecting the message, the pitch that’s supposed to land the deal. But what sticks with people isn’t what you said. It’s how you showed up: the tone, the energy, and most of all, the way you listened before talking.

We’re no longer in a business era driven purely by transactions. We’re in a trust era built on connection and alignment, and the brands thriving in it are the ones who know how to feel human again. So be clear and strategic, but more than anything, be real. Your elevator pitch might get you in the door. Your empathy is what keeps you in the room.

Ryan Reynolds, Tim Hortons & a masterclass in reputation strategy

From puppies on Colbert to a perfectly timed brand rollout, this wasn’t just a media tour. But audiences are harder to win over when the sentiment doesn’t match the timing, and the backlash wasn’t about breakfast. It was about trust.

PR isn’t just polishing headlines; it’s alignment. Does the headline fit the story? Does the campaign reflect accountability? Does it feel real? As someone who builds brands for a living, I know how tempting it is to pivot fast when the narrative shifts. But the smartest branding isn’t reactive, it’s relational. In an age of hyper-aware consumers, vulnerability isn’t just brave, it’s good business.

LinkedIn · corporate messaging (DEI)

When did “diversity” become a dirty word?

Companies are rebranding diversity, equity and inclusion. “Diversity” is becoming “belonging.” “Inclusion” is becoming “well-being.” All in the name of keeping things comfortable. But if we have to tiptoe around inclusion to make it digestible, maybe we’ve already missed the point?

I’ve built teams and brands around empowerment, so I understand the impulse to evolve. But changing the language doesn’t change the responsibility. Belonging isn’t a trend, it’s a non-negotiable. The question shouldn’t be “how do we make this easier to say?” It should be “how do we say what actually matters, with the guts and clarity it deserves?”

What I’ve learned from the world’s top entrepreneurs

I’ve interviewed and worked with some of the world’s top entrepreneurs. A few of the lessons that stuck: confidence isn’t built from praise, it’s built from receipts, keeping small promises to yourself when no one’s watching. Being “in demand” is a dopamine hit; being in alignment is sustainable. And if you don’t learn to rest, success will force you to.

Keep Your Business Growing This Summer

Summer brings its own slump, but there are plenty of ways to keep a business moving forward while still taking time for yourself. A few that work: sync your tools for a portable, work-anywhere setup; build campaigns around the awareness days that fit your niche; plan and schedule two to three months of social content in advance; and keep growing your CRM while the market slows, so you’re ready the moment it picks back up.

“Would you buy this Hollywood Legacy home with views of Griffith Park?”

The Spitzer House listing above, rewritten as a scroll-stopping opener, a question that frames a $4.8M historic estate as a fantasy worth tapping into, then pays it off with the Observatory views and 1924 provenance.
