The opportunity

Sake Bomb was a new ready-to-drink beverage entering the Canadian market. I joined in the company's early stages to establish its social media presence, develop its content strategy and build the brand's digital identity from the ground up.

As the company evolved, I collaborated closely with the founders, key stakeholders, a fractional marketing lead, a fractional CMO and an external creative team to scale the brand's marketing and support its retail growth.

The challenge

Launching a completely new beverage brand meant building awareness from zero, introducing an unfamiliar product to both consumers and retailers.

The business needed to establish a recognizable brand, educate consumers, generate excitement and build enough market momentum to support retail expansion.

My approach

I led the brand's social media marketing through launch, owning the full lifecycle from strategy to execution, before transitioning into a collaborative creative team as the business scaled.

01Building the brand from the ground up

Developed the initial social and content strategy, defining the brand's digital voice, content pillars and launch roadmap. In the early stages I produced most of the content myself, filming, editing, writing and publishing the social-first assets that introduced the product and built early awareness.

02Scaling marketing as the business grew

As the company expanded, I worked closely with the founders, stakeholders, a fractional marketing lead and later a fractional CMO to evolve the strategy. Once a creative production team came on, I collaborated to keep every asset aligned with the brand, messaging and business objectives.

03Supporting retail expansion

Marketing was built alongside the company's broader growth strategy to grow consumer awareness and strengthen the brand ahead of retail. According to the founders, the combination of strategic marketing, growing awareness and the company's industry relationships helped accelerate Sake Bomb's launch into BC Liquor Stores by roughly six months ahead of the original timeline.

The results

From a standing start, the work gave Sake Bomb a recognizable digital identity and a content engine to launch behind, established brand voice, content pillars and a steady stream of original photo and video that introduced the product and grew awareness.

~6 months earlier into BC Liquor Stores than originally planned, an acceleration the founders credit to strategic marketing, growing awareness and the company's industry relationships.

And as the marketing function grew from a team of one into a larger collaborative creative team, I helped hold the brand consistent through the transition, so the identity built at launch carried through as the business scaled.

From nothing to the shelf.

A new beverage brand doesn't just need content, it needs a reason for consumers and retailers to believe in it. Built from zero, the brand's social presence created the awareness and momentum that helped turn an unfamiliar product into one moving toward store shelves.

A startup, launched from zero.

New product, new market, no audience, to a recognizable brand with the momentum to earn its place in stores.
