Case Study
Michael Bublé
Organic social strategy, content development & cross-platform growth.
The challenge
Michael already had a globally established fanbase and recognizable brand. The challenge was not simply generating awareness; it was giving audiences an ongoing reason to return between major launches. The content had to support a constant range of moments:
- Music releases and catalogue promotion
- Television and media appearances
- Concerts and live performances
- Seasonal campaigns
- Collaborations and partnerships
- Personal and family storytelling
- Community engagement and fan connection
It also needed to work differently on each platform while keeping one cohesive voice. And it had to be production-efficient: Michael couldn't film constantly, so growth had to come from a mix of new footage, archival assets, live-performance clips and repurposed content.
Strategic approach
01Music & performance
Recognizable songs, live performances, collaborations and archival moments stayed central to discovery. Rather than treating archival footage as filler, I reframed it with social-first hooks, captions, edits and cultural context, so older assets felt current and kept earning long after the original event.
02Family & personal connection
Family, relationships, friendships and milestones consistently created deeper emotional engagement, giving audiences access to Michael beyond the performer and frequently driving strong follower conversion, saves and comments.
03Humour & personality
Casual, self-aware, playful content made the channels feel immediate rather than corporate, especially valuable on TikTok and Reels, where the strongest posts landed a clear joke or relatable premise in the opening seconds.
04Timely & reactive storytelling
I identified holidays, cultural moments, trends and audio opportunities his brand could join naturally, not chasing every trend, but finding the moments where his music, personality or existing footage could add something recognizable.
05Platform-specific execution
One voice, tuned to each platform's behaviour:
- Instagram balanced discovery Reels with personal photos and narrative carousels.
- TikTok prioritized immediacy, humour, community participation and payoff-first editing.
- Facebook became a major distribution and video-consumption channel for short-form.
- YouTube combined long-form scale with Shorts as a discovery layer.
- X supported timely conversation, milestones and cultural moments.
06Analytics-led optimization
Monthly analytics drove the content mix, cadence and editorial direction. When Michael-led content began outperforming collaboration-heavy distribution, I shifted to an artist-first mix.
The artist-first shift lifted Michael-specific Instagram
Platform performance
InstagramThe engine of growth and discovery.
Instagram added 304.4K followers in 2025 and stayed the most consistent platform for growth and engagement. Core pillar content routinely ran 2M–6.9M views per post, with individual Reels driving roughly 3K–32K followers each. A major operational win: the six highest-performing Instagram posts of 2025 were all repurposed assets I edited and compiled, none requiring Michael on camera.
TikTokWhere one idea could move everything.
TikTok generated 181K new followers, 63M views and 4.3M likes. Performance was driven less by follower size and more by the strength of individual ideas, community participation, recognizable audio, quick humour and culturally relevant editing created the strongest discovery.
Top TikTok of the year
Other leading TikToks drove 16K follows on 4.6M views, 34K follows on 2.7M views, and 7K follows on 1.3M views.
FacebookA second distribution engine.
Facebook became a powerful distribution channel for short-form, several Instagram-led concepts earned the majority of their total views through Facebook sharing and native distribution.
Viewer quality improved year over year too: three-second views up 36.9%, one-minute views up 35.2%, watch time up 20.4%.
YouTubeLong-form scale, short-form discovery.
The artist channel generated 1.345B impressions and 433M engaged views, with Shorts acting as a discovery and engagement layer that over-indexed on interaction, roughly 2.2% of impressions but 8.4% of likes and 17.3% of comments.
Selected creative wins
Archival subway performance Reel
An old performance, reframed for social.
I reframed an existing subway performance with a humour-led opening and a faster, social-first structure. It became the strongest verified Instagram follower-conversion result of the engagement.
Top TikTok
64K follows from a single video.
A community-led TikTok became the strongest single-post follower result across the whole portfolio, proof that one culturally relevant, platform-native idea can become a major audience-growth event.
"Spicy Margarita Day" mashup
A collab, reactivated by the calendar.
For International Margarita Day, I built a mashup of Michael Bublé and Jason Derulo around their song "Spicy Margarita", showing how an existing collaboration could be reactivated through a timely cultural moment, adapted for both Instagram and Facebook.
Grocery-store relationship Reel
Nine seconds, 6.97M views.
A nine-second concept built around Michael meeting his future wife in a grocery store. It proved simple, instantly understandable storytelling could compete with far larger music and campaign assets.
Family & relationship content
Personal context, real conversion.
Personal content consistently drove both emotional engagement and follower conversion, audiences responded most when Michael's public identity was paired with authentic personal moments.
December 2024 seasonal campaign
One of the strongest growth periods of the engagement, combined, Instagram and TikTok generated roughly 237K new followers and nearly 75M views in a single month.

The strategic impact
The work built a scalable content system that performed during major campaign periods and quieter moments, combining recognizable music, personal connection, humour, timely cultural participation, platform-native editing, constant optimization and smart repurposing of existing assets.
Most importantly, the channels became more than promotional outlets. They became an ongoing extension of Michael's personality and his relationship with his audience, able to carry major announcements while staying relevant through lighter, more personal, culturally responsive moments.
A single holiday push even landed Michael's account among Canada's 20 fastest-growing Instagram accounts for the period.
A relationship with the audience, not a channel.
Always-on, cross-platform, and built to grow whether or not the cameras were rolling.
